Hi, I'm Taylor Jade

I am an Australian woman who fell deeply in love with Scotland and with that I have packed my bags and moved half way around the world! I now want to show you all why I have chosen to make this country my home.

My Story

After graduating high school, I jumped straight into the workforce and landed myself a job in the operating theatres of a hospital. I found it really interesting for the first 12 months but I soon found out that it was not for me. Unfortunately, I had the mindset of I MUST  – I MUST have an income – I MUST pick up my big girl pants and go to work because that's what responsible adults do, right?
After 6 years I finally decided to take 12 months of unpaid leave and travel Europe, the UK and Ireland. I booked a one-way ticket and off I went! I settled in Ireland and got myself a job working in a B&B in County Kerry. I actually really enjoyed it! I got to meet other travellers who shared their travel photos and stories with me and I got to share my experiences in return.
Before I knew it my 12-month working holiday was up and I had to return home to Australia and back to my job. I fell straight back into a rut and even changing hospitals didn’t help! I ended up working in another hospital for a further 7.5 years and became more and more miserable.
Fast forward to Oct 2023 – I came back to Scotland and Ireland, and finally, I FELT ALIVE AGAIN! I knew that this is where I was meant to be!

So How Did Takoma Come About?

In Ireland I joined a tour group for a Halloween tour and it was the worst travelling experience I’ve ever had. I was disheartened to see everyone having such a bad time (it was the tour companies’ fault – NOT IRELAND!). By the end of the trip, we didn’t even want to participate in the included farewell dinner! So I rounded up my newfound family and I had organized my own farewell treat. We were entertained by live music, storytelling and incredible Irish dancing while we were served a 3-course meal. You couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces! We had THE BEST farewell we could have possibly had.
When I went back home to Australia, I immediately started making plans to move back to Scotland and I have made it my own personal goal to provide everyone with the same feeling my new family and I felt on our last night in Ireland.
